MaRS Landing is an unbelievably painful attempt at a clever acronym. I wonder if the president cringes a little every time he says it.

Maybe he should start by trimming a little off of his own salary.

I find all this personally upsetting. Many members of my family have attended the University of Guelph over several generations, almost since it first opened its doors, and I've always been so proud to have such an incredible and unique institution in the heart of southern Ontario.

I continue to be baffled by Guelph's position on the organic program. I can't think of anything more short sighted than to ignore both the market trends and the inevitable demise of fossil fuel-dependant industries. Then again, funding from both corporations and conservative governments have been skewing universities in general towards producing technocrats capable of slotting into the established, profit-focused order.

I guess agriculture is no different.
